Head of People - (Interim / Freelance)

For a tech company based in Amsterdam (100fte) we’re looking for an interim Head of People who can step in during maternity leave. The P&C team has five people, including a couple of recent hires. Your job is to support them, lead them, and make sure the work gets done. Aside from managing the people team, there are some key priorities to deliver and a complex change project to manage during this period. 

💼 What you’ll do
✨ Leading and supporting the P&C team including onboarding new P&C team members.

✨ Overseeing daily HR across a ~100-person organisation (performance management, recruitment, payroll, cases etc).
✨ Managing a complex reorganisation project during this period.

✨ Preparing and planning a manager upskilling programme.
✨ Running an engagement survey to get a clear picture of where the organisation stands.
✨ Leading pay transparency preparations ahead of the January 2027 deadline.

This is a hands-on leadership role. Not just steering from a distance.

🧠 Who we're looking for

✅ An experienced P&C leader with experience in start/ scale-ups - You've led P&C teams before.
✅ Proven experience with reorganisations, end to end, more than once.

✅ Someone who can hit the ground running and quickly earn the trust of a team.

✅ Comfortable managing change while managing the day-to-day P&C team.

✅ A natural people manager who knows how to support, not just steer.

✅ Familiar with the Dutch HR landscape and upcoming EU pay transparency legislation.

⏰ Days: start with 2,5 days and increasing to 3-4 days
